America needs action!
All we get is talk, or as Greta Thunberg would say; blah, blah, blah.
The great thinkers and authors are writing and speaking to the issues of the day. The inaction however Is much louder. Historically writers are not warriors they can bring a call to action, as I would say they are.
Let me be clear I am not condoning or even thinking of a violent reaction to anything.
I’m often reminded of a line from the movie Jojo rabbit; where JoJo asks his mother “what did they do?” the mother answers; “all they could” he was asking why people were hanging in the Square.
In this country, at this moment, no one seems to care enough about anything.
Not even, when the police across the country show themselves to be, the racist, violent organization they have developed into.
We know they live in our neighborhoods towns and cities and yet most of us, who are able too. Feel, OK, as long as they don’t bother us. We won’t make eye contact. We are the people who do nothing even though we see. A majority of us still think we are a civilized society; even though it clear we no longer have laws and measures in place to protect us from each other, when we need protection. The laws are now to control us.
It’s clear we are not as civilized as we think we are. Both those of us who don’t make eye Contact, and those of us who dominate others.
The laws and the very government in this country belong to the rich. Americans think only money matters. but you can’t eat or drink money you can’t even run a coal plant or electricity plant without clean water.
I believe the greatest ill that’s been uncovered from the worldwide pandemic is America’s ignorance. This is also the most challenging to overcome. Because ignorance allows for fear mongering and intimidation, which creates chaos.
If it were the 60s we might’ve been able to see the importance of education. We might have paid attention to how we educate our children, all of them. the ones who will grow up to have money and power and the ones who will grow our food and take care of the earth.
Education should be exactly the same for all; reading, writing, facts, history, math, Science, and civics.
Any outside teaching such as religious or fringe beliefs should be separate of any educational system provided by the federal government, and offered separately. These teachings should never be a requirement of a community, town, city, state or political party. This is precisely why an educated population is the most important part of a civilized society.
Just a personal sidenote on religions; I was raised Catholic, I went to Catholic schools until junior high.
When everyone was laughing at and commenting on stupid QAnon; I asked people to think about the Catholic religion. The burning bushes, Ark’s to save every animal on the planet, God testing a follower by asking him to kill his only son!? Let alone the horrific Catholic religion’s actual history with children. How can reasonable people not think that’s crazy?
Any religion as a governing body or controlling force is not a good idea. Most of us know this and look the other way.
Those of us who can, better start “doing all we can.”
"I believe the greatest ill that’s been uncovered from the worldwide pandemic is America’s ignorance. This is also the most challenging to overcome. Because ignorance allows for fear mongering and intimidation, which creates chaos."
I particularly agree with this statement. I live in a downstate county in Illinois, where ignorance and lack of education is almost worn like a badge of honor. Parents are still happy to see their kids get good report cards and get on the honor roll, or so it seems (?). However, these same people seem to rebel against those who received more education and are trying to use it for the good of mankind. After a certain point, education is just viewed as a waste of time, and people that are well educated are viewed as "elite libtards". I certainly agree that ignorance itself is incredibly hard to overcome, especially when so many are both willfully and happily ignorant.
